DPF Delete for
Off-Highway Diesel Trucks
The direct answer: A DPF delete is ECM tuning that disables an engine’s diesel particulate filter (Diesel Particulate Filter), for off-highway or competition use only.
The DPF captures soot from the exhaust and burns it off through regeneration cycles. These regenerations consume fuel, sometimes take the truck out of service, and the filter eventually clogs: power loss, derate mode, costly cleanings and replacements.
On an off-highway or competition vehicle, removing the DPF eliminates these constraints. Diesel Spec offers this service on six engine brands.

Why Off-Highway Operators
Remove the DPF
For a complete off-highway configuration, DPF removal is combined with EGR and urea deletes. See our Off-Highway Tuning page.
A DPF delete is generally combined with an EGR delete and, depending on the engine, a urea system delete, for a coherent off-highway configuration.
The constraints of the particulate filter
- Regeneration cycles that consume fuel and force downtime
- Progressive clogging: power loss and derate mode
- Periodic cleanings and replacements, among the most expensive aftertreatment system maintenance
- Risk of accelerated clogging in intensive off-highway use
The measured benefits after the delete
- Freed-up exhaust: better engine breathing and improved response
- No more regenerations and their extra fuel consumption
- Increased reliability in intensive off-highway use
- Simplified maintenance and reduced operating costs
